UPLIFTING ABILITIES

Our Beginning

In 2015, Nepal was hit with a series of devastating earthquakes the likes of which hadn’t been felt in the country in decades. The resulting destruction led to over 9,000 casualties and nearly 22,000 injured. Since then the country has struggled to rebuild and those that were left disabled have had little to no help. Upability was created to ensure the people of Nepal and countries like it are heard and are not left behind.

“Only by bringing everyone together can society truly reach its potential”

— Sunita sandidge, FOUNDER

Soon after the earthquake, Sunita's visit to Nepal showed her how desperately her home country needed the help she currently provided in the United States. The work she did in Wahington DC to apply resources and manpower to help the disabled and put them in a position so that they could thrive in society was something that needed to be expanded into other countries.

Our Mission

Provide the tools and care necessary to rehabilitate and empower individuals with disabilities to lead a rich and meaningful life.

1 Billion

Disabled people on earth

90%

Of children with disabilities in developing countries do not attend school

80%

Of working age people with disabilities are unemployed in some countries

By reconnecting with her friends and family in Nepal, Thailand and other Asian countries, Sunita created a network of those that were ready to devote their time and service to be involved in something bigger than themselves. Creating a team in the United States from DC to Texas and combining it with the family back in Asia, Sunita laid the groundwork to reach out to the disabled across the continents.

Get Involved

If you have a passion to see that all groups of people be involved in society no matter their abilities, please consider reaching out to see how you can get involved. Each new year brings more projects and Upability is always looking for volunteers in one of our many locations here and abroad. Donations are also vital to our growth as we use them for medical equipment, doctor visits, essential medications and outreach.
